An anonymous hacker has spent the past nine days leaking unreleased Grand Theft Auto VI gameplay, created his own memecoin and then cashed out millions of tokens.

The leaks of GTA 6 — one of the most highly anticipated games, which has spent more than a decade in development — broke the internet with the release date finally set for the end of this year. The leaked footages were watermarked with a Solana memecoin called $CYBERLEEK and overlay text reading "higher market cap = more leeks."

The token went from nothing to a market cap of roughly $25 million on Aug. 23.

On Thursday, however, the hacker appears to be jumping ship, with onchain data showing that the contract owner claimed roughly $146,000 in wrapped $SOL in addition to 15.4 million tokens in creator fees, then dumped the entire allocation for about $125,000 in $SOL tokens, just hours before Rockstar’s official GTA gameplay reveal.

The game is expected to be the largest in entertainment history.

Take-Two, the parent company, has guided to $8 billion to $8.2 billion in fiscal 2027 net bookings on the back of it, and analysts have projected up to 45 million copies in the launch window, compared with the previous game, GTA V, which sold roughly 230 million lifetime units.

Rockstar addressed the leaks in a statement on Wednesday, saying it has been “heartbreaking for the team.”

The proceeds of the memecoin were split across four fresh wallets, with at least 91 $SOL routed to KuCoin. Dexerto, citing GTAForums investigator “Vice Cit,” put the total cash-out above $250,000. The figures come from independent blockchain analysis and have not been confirmed by the leaker or any exchange.

It’s worth noting that the proceeds of the sale came from trading-volume-based fees, not the creators’ initial allocation, which was reportedly burned last week.

The token $CYBERLEEK peaked at $0.0344, according to CoinGecko. It now trades near $0.0097, down about 46% in 24 hours, with a market cap of around $7 million on CoinMarketCap and $13 million to $18 million in daily volume. Around 730 million tokens are still circulating among roughly 68,000 to 78,000 wallets.

Take-Two had reportedly subpoenaed X, Microsoft and Discord to unmask the leaker. Onchain sleuths note the funding trail runs back to a KYC-verified KuCoin account.
