Ontology blockchain has released its 2026 roadmap, outlining a shift from building core infrastructure to strengthening products and expanding real-world use cases. The plan follows a major tokenomics update in 2025 that capped the supply of ONG at 800 million tokens and burned 200 million. In early 2026, community governance also reduced network gas fees by 80%, lowering costs for developers and users.

A key part of the strategy is consolidating Ontology’s tools into ONTO Wallet. Features from Orange Protocol, which focuses on reputation and data aggregation, and Ontello, a privacy solution, are being integrated into the wallet. The identity layer $ONT ID is already included. The goal is to create a single interface where users manage identity, credentials, reputation, and privacy.

The roadmap also highlights upgrades to Ontology’s decentralized identity infrastructure. Improvements to Decentralized Identifiers and Verifiable Credentials will support growing demand from real-world asset applications while remaining compatible with standards from World Wide Web Consortium.

Another direction is the combination of blockchain and artificial intelligence. Verified user-approved data from the ecosystem could be used to train AI models. Ontology expects its $ONT and ONG tokens to support micro-payments for decentralized AI services and agents.
