General Updates
Neo’s two founding figures, Erik Zhang and Da Hongfei, publicly clashed over governance and treasury transparency. The dispute, which unfolded on X over the final days of 2025, centered on longstanding disagreements related to financial disclosure and control of Neo Foundation assets. A public statement was posted on the Neo’s official X account assuring the community that these personal disputes “do not and will not affect NF’s or NGD’s day-to-day operations.”
Additionally, Neo‘s Zhang conducted an interview with PA News where he publicly disclosed transparent on-chain holdings of NEO and GAS across 21 consensus nodes and a multisig wallet.
Neo shared a 2025 year-in-review video that shared several images associated with social media campaign highlights, tech updates, the launch of SpoonOS, partnerships and collaborations, events attended, and community activities.
Neo concluded the holiday-themed game, “Grouchy, Grinchy, Grumpy AI Christmas,” and distributed the prizes evenly among the players who submitted an answer, since nobody had guessed the correct solution.
NEOBOX released a bi-monthly update, which noted the team focused on building the foundation for NEOBOX, preparing the first playable version of the Neo- and NeoFS-powered arcade platform. This milestone sets the stage for initial design previews in Q1 2026 and a curated game submission competition planned for February, alongside direct follow-ups with the community to close open questions and improve communication.
Neo Red Pill concluded its holiday giveaway campaign, rewarding one user each with an NRP shirt, NRP coffee mug, or €10 gift card.
Developer Updates
NeoSPCC released NeoGo v0.115, bringing the client in line with the latest Faun preview updates, alongside usability and performance improvements across the CLI, RPC services, and Notary infrastructure. Key highlights include new governance and fee controls, the introduction of a native Treasury contract, and early support for NeoFS state syncing, all while maintaining compatibility with the previous release. Node operators should note an updated MainNet system fee and a NeoFS sync checkpoint change, though most users will be unaffected.
