Entering 2026, Bitcoin (BTC) and altcoins are expected to experience significant price increases.
At this point, in addition to the 2026 predictions, analyses of how 2025 went are also emerging.
Grayscale, one of the largest asset management companies, reviewed its fourth-quarter performance and indicated that the fourth quarter of 2025 will be a period of stagnation.
It was noted that in the fourth quarter of 2025, returns were negative, following gains experienced in all market categories in the third quarter.
Grayscale noted that privacy-focused altcoins generally came to the forefront in the 4th quarter, and also ranked the top 20 performing altcoins:
“Zcash (ZEC), Monero (XMR), Alchemist AI (ALCH), Just (JST), Dash (DASH), Hive (HIVE), Basic Attention Token (BAT), Beldex (BDX), Origin Trail (TRAC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Decred (DCR), Telcoin (TEL), Echelon Prime (PRIME), Golem (GLM), Chiliz (CHZ), Maker (SKY), ULTIMA, Venice Token (VVV), Maple Finance (SYRUP) and Uniswap (UNI)”
Grayscale noted that these altcoins have been high-performing, but all altcoins in the top 20 list have high price volatility.
He stated that these should be considered high-risk and warned investors.
