Gen Sol, a Web3 gaming and animation platform backed by South Korean government agencies, has selected IOTA Rebased as the foundation for its innovative ecosystem. The collaboration leverages IOTA’s advanced MoveVM and EVM technologies to redefine storytelling and gaming experiences.
Inside Gen Sol & IOTA Rebased Collaboration
On X, Gen Sol shared they are “proud to announce that it will be building on IOTA Rebased.” The team will be using IOTA’s cutting-edge technology, involving MoveVM and EVM. Moreover, they stated, “IOTA and Gen Sol are gearing up to take over Web3 in 2025.”
For further context, Gen Sol is uniquely positioned as a Web3 project funded by significant South Korean government entities. These entities include the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Korea Creative Content Agency, and Busan IT Industry Promotion Agency. These endorsements point to its potential as a pioneering venture for Web3 technology and content creation. Naru, one of the lead project leads, said:
Our project has been selected for eight government support programs so far. This has special meaning because we are a Web3 project. Passing their rigorous evaluation shows that our project’s potential is recognized even in spaces where blockchain often faces skepticism.
Gen Sol’s Vision For Web3
Gen Sol’s mission is to combine outstanding creative content with the prospects of Web3. The project will develop an interconnected science fiction universe represented by movies, games, and animated series.
In an interview, Overclocked, the co-founder of Gen Sol explained, “The first and main IP is going to have one central narrative connecting everything in that sci-fi universe. Movies will cover the big players and overarching story, live-action series will explore political intrigue, and animated shows will focus on smaller tales from the galaxy’s outskirts.”
Furthermore, the decision to partner with IOTA is central to Gen Sol’s vision. “With IOTA Rebased, it’s like we finally have a solid foundation to build on,” said Overclocked. He also highlighted how IOTA’s technology provides the flexibility needed to innovate, per the CNF report. He noted, “It’s so good to see a good vibe in the community again, with people really being optimistic about the future.
Moreover, Gen Sol wants to create a community of Web3 enthusiasts, sci-fi fans, and creative professionals. It is through the community that the project’s narratives and aesthetics will be shaped. “We want direct feedback and ideas from our community,” said Overclocked. He added, “If someone loves the Gen Sol idea, we want to bring them in to help manage and guide the brand.”
In fact, the blockchain features will be integrated seamlessly, so when one wants to roll into Web3 capabilities like NFTs or in-game tokens, they can do just that. “We want the game to stand on its own,” said Overclocked. He added, “Web3 should remain in the background until users choose to engage with it.”
Currently, Gen Sol’s development is progressing with a multiplayer shooter prototype coded in C++ and Unreal Engine and a sci-fi animation series underway. The project will officially launch its Discord and website in December.
