Shibarium, the Layer 2 blockchain network for the Shiba Inu ecosystem, is on the verge of integrating the Chainlink’s cross-chain interoperability protocol (CCIP), which could improve its interoperability. The development came to light when The Bus, a prominent figure in the Shiba Inu community, analyzed code details related to the integration. He shared screenshots of the codebase highlighting details of Shibarium’s potential integration with CCIP.
The screenshots show a “PriceRegistry” smart contract that facilitates the conversion of token amounts across blockchain networks. Notably, the contract uses Chainlink technology to verify token prices and ensure accurate cross-chain token transfers. While the integration has yet to be officially announced by the Shibarium team, The Bus’s disclosure prompted a response from Shiba Inu developer Kaal Dhairya, who acknowledged the expert’s talent in revealing important updates around Shibarium and the wider ecosystem.
The CCIP Chainlink integration will allow Shibarium to expand its ecosystem and enhance interoperability by connecting to other blockchains. Currently, asset transfers involving Shibarium and other networks are based on bridges. The CCIP integration could improve user experience by allowing Shibarium-based assets to interoperate across different chains, increasing liquidity. For example, network participants could use Shibarium tokens in applications or transactions on chains such as Ethereum, Polygon, or Avalanche.
