  • XRP could offer a new way to make international payments faster.
  • Ripple’s technology connects different payment systems easily.
  • Many renowed businesses are looking at XRP as a valuable tool for the future.

The decline of the U.S. dollar’s purchasing power is pushing finance companies to seek alternative currencies for global business deals. Financial expert Versan Aljarrah says this shift leads to XRP being considered as a potential replacement for the U.S. dollar. Ripple’s digital asset may serve as a solution for cross-border payments while offering greater liquidity as the traditional financial system evolves.

The new reserve currency system is already in place. For over a decade, #Ripple has been laying the groundwork, with #XRP positioned to replace the dollar's reserve status

Aljarrah points out that currency cycles eventually end and the U.S. dollar’s role as the world’s reserve currency may be nearing its conclusion. As the dollar’s liquidity diminishes, governments and financial institutions increasingly explore alternatives to maintain efficient international transactions.

Blockchain Technology in Banking

One key direction for these institutions is the integration of blockchain technology into banking. Ripple’s XRP is emerging as a major component in this shift. SWIFT, the global standard for international banking transactions, has reportedly integrated Ripple’s technology. This development signals a potential transformation in how global payments are processed.

Aljarrah notes that two major executives from SWIFT have moved to Ripple, marking a strategic alignment. Marcus Treacher, a former HSBC executive and SWIFT global board member, joined Ripple in 2016. The following year, Marjan Delatinne, SWIFT’s former business director, also transitioned to Ripple. Their involvement points to its increasing importance in the banking sector.

Ripple’s Growing Influence

Its advancement in innovation gains traction among major financial agencies, including the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank. These organizations actively explore blockchain solutions like RippleNet for cross-border payments. XRP can bridge different government payment systems while still maintaining dollar transactions, which is a significant advantage.

Aljarrah emphasizes that XRP’s design allows nations to keep control over their currencies while engaging in international trade using the dollar. This characteristic makes XRP appealing as economies increasingly digitize and adopt tokenized financial systems. With a total supply of 100 billion tokens, XRP may face supply shortages as demand grows.
