- Celestia’s Lemongrass upgrade introduces 1-click Tia interactions, Interchain accounts, and a new upgrade mechanism.
- In August, Mocha Testnet and Mainnet Beta will both activate after the Lemongrass upgrade on Arabica Devnet.
In a tweet, Celestia announced its first major upgrade, Lemongrass, which is expected to include various upgrades and new capabilities for the network. This upgrade was designed and coordinated in close consultation with the community, demonstrating Celestia’s dedication to decentralized collaboration.
One of Lemongrass’s most prominent features is the addition of 1-click Tia interactions with other IBC chains and Interchain accounts. In addition, a new upgrading method will be introduced, making future updates more manageable.

Critical Features and Community-Driven Rollout of the Lemongrass Upgrade
The Lemongrass upgrade will provide numerous critical features to the network, including CIP-6, which focuses on price enforcement; CIP-9, which introduces Packet Forward Middleware, and CIP-10, which allows for coordinated upgrades.
CIP-14 will also introduce Interchain accounts, strengthening the network’s interoperability with other blockchain networks. Another important feature of this upgrade is CIP-20, which will disable the previous Blobstream module, resulting in a dramatic change in how the network runs.
To activate Lemongrass, Celestia-App v2.0.0 will be released in August on the Arabica Devnet. Following the successful activation and testing of the Arabica Devnet, the Mocha Testnet will also be upgraded, with full community collaboration to enable a seamless transfer.
Finally, based on the success of the preceding phases, the Celestia Mainnet Beta is expected to launch its own version of Lemongrass around early to mid-September. Lemongrass’s activation on the Mainnet Beta will be a community-coordinated endeavor, like with the preceding stages.
Meanwhile, Celestia’s native token, TIA, has surged by 20.94% over the last 24 hours to $5.60. This substantial surge has pushed TIA into the top three gainers on CoinMarketCap, with its daily trading volume increasing by 65.70% to $136.95 million.
Given the recent favorable views expressed by numerous analysts, this jump is unsurprising. CNF earlier reported that Cryptollica, a well-known analyst and trader, voiced optimism in Celestia, citing critical technical levels. The analyst identified the $7.367 level as a major resistance point that must be broken for TIA to retain its bullish pattern.
In addition, another well-known analyst has spotted possible rally prospects for TIA. The analyst predicts that the adoption of Ethereum ETFs will function as a stimulus for altcoin price hikes, including TIA, a new project that was listed at the end of 2023.
