As more and more projects take the step towards tokenization, the HBAR Foundation announced that Fresch Supply Co. (FSC), previously the largest user of the now-defunct private Mastercard Provenance blockchain, has now fully transitioned to the Hedera blockchain for real-world asset (RWA) tokenization in the agri-food supply chain. Hedera’s high scalability makes it an ideal platform for this industry.
The agri-food value chain, covering the entire process from production and processing to distribution of agricultural products, has traditionally been completely complex and opaque. This opacity limits financiers’ ability to rely on balance sheets as well as income statements when assessing credit risk.
FSCO solves this problem by tokenizing various events throughout the agri-food value chain. This includes processing cows into beef, milk into cheese, as well as processes such as shipping, customs and standing order fulfillment. These events are later linked and tracked with complete transparency. The Hedera HBAR cryptocurrency has gained momentum alongside the broader market recovery. At the time of writing, HBAR is trading 6.25% higher at $0.07394, with a market capitalization of $2.645 billion.
