General Updates

Neo core developer Jinghui Liao presented a paper entitled BFTRand: Low-latency Random Number Provider for BFT Smart Contracts at the IEEE/IFIP International Conference on Dependable Systems and Networks in Brisbane, Australia. The paper described a novel random number provider protocol for BFT consensus-based blockchains, which deviates from the traditional “commit-execute” models, significantly boosting response times and security and reducing on-chain data requirements.

Neo announced the integration of AIgentX into the Neo X TestNet, introducing AI tools aimed at simplifying and enhancing the user experience. Users can now access the Telegram-based tool to learn more about Neo, token prices, developing on the chain, and much more.

Neo blockchain developer Hecate2 recently released an update of Neo-fairy-test, a set of tools designed to enhance the testing and debugging experience of Neo N3 smart contracts. Neo-fairy-test is packaged as a NeoCLI plugin, allowing developers to test transactions and smart contracts against real-world network state. Neo-fairy-test differs from Neo’s other testing environment, Neo Express, as it enables thorough testing against real-world on-chain environments without needing to redeploy and set up code, incur gas fees, or make unintended changes to the global state.

Flamingo established a strategic partnership with Phoenix, with plans to gradually introduce Phoenix’s AlphaNet AI offerings into Neo’s DeFi platform and to create an AI-enhanced trading experience. The integration will include AI trading insights, signals, strategies, and tools powered by Phoenix’s AlphaNet and HyperMatrix.

GrantShares recipient Linkd Academy released the Neo Name Service SDK, reducing developers’ friction in integrating NeoNS into their applications. Key features include address resolution, name registration, record management, and transaction building.

Frank Coin hosted a community quiz about the Neo ecosystem on the Neo F1 Discord server, where the top 3 participants each won 70 FLM, and ten random winners won 60 FRANK tokens. The project also hosted a Telegram quiz with the same prize reward structure and facilitated a stream to discuss Neo ecosystem news and play the Pixudi NFT board racing game.

Neo Spanish Telegram admin Josu released a Spanish how-to video on entering the official Neo Discord server’s weekly quiz competition.

Flamingo‘s June 2024 Zealy social media campaign concluded, and approximately $1,000 worth of FLM and GAS tokens were distributed. Meme2Earn‘s monthly Zealy campaign also concluded, distributing approximately $420 worth of TIPS tokens.

Flamingo shared statistics on the FLUND single-sided staking token for week 25 of 2024, noting approximately $6.66 million in total value, $3.47 million in total minting rewards, and $636,000 in total trading fee rewards.

NNT Catch Up

NNT editors hosted Crypto Coffee and Blockchain Beer Spaces #23 on the official The Smart Economy Podcast X account. Topics of discussion included attracting users to the new Neo X EVM sidechain network via rewards or incentives, the US presidential debate, the Solana ETF application in the US, the next guest on The Smart Economy Podcast, how Ampera and Flexa are making crypto payments simple, and much more.

Greenfinch, a decentralized storage solution that utilizes the Neo blockchain and NeoFS, will be known going forward as Cassette. The co-founders cite inspiration from the ethos of the cypherpunks, emphasizing privacy, anonymity, and security, which influenced decentralized technology like blockchain and distributed storage networks. The new brand reflects this spirit, building on the sharing of cassette-based mixtapes that predated digital music distribution networks. The Cassette team notes that while the rebranded application might have a similar design to the first version of Greenfinch, the underlying code has been entirely rewritten from the ground up. This change is intended to make Cassette easier to iterate and build on moving forward.
