  • Worldcoin’s Korean employee assures that iris data is kept secure and never sold.
  • Worldcoin emphasizes the safety and privacy of its iris scanning technology amid global scrutiny.

Though a firm representative reassures users that their iris data is safe, Worldcoin has come under fire from international regulators for its data practices.

In a recent interview with the Korea Times, Noah Kim, the only Korean employee at Worldcoin creator Tools for Humanity, discusses privacy issues and false beliefs about data collection and iris scanning. Kim oversees Korean market relations for Worldcoin in addition to being its financial controller.

The Orb gadget, according to Kim, scans users’ iris to confirm their identity. He said, trying to allay privacy worries, “We create an encrypted code and delete the rest of the data immediately.” The debunking of myths about Worldcoin’s data procedures depends on this stage.

Cooperation with Korean Authorities

Kim said the initiative will keep collaborating with the Korean committee’s inquiry to allay fears. He stressed the value of the iris scanning procedure to the mission.

Iris scanning, claims Kim, is the safest and most effective way to verify users on a large scale. Conventional techniques such as face recognition or fingerprints have drawbacks: surgery can change facial features, fingerprints can be destroyed or duplicated, and DNA verification is too costly to be widely used.

Iris scanning, in Kim’s opinion, makes building a system for billions of users simpler and faster. The information ensures anonymity. These facts were not adequately articulated, so I think many are hesitant to apply them. He added:

“I hope more people utilize World ID in the future because we are getting ready to develop additional real-life application scenarios… We are seeking partnerships in Korea, hoping to collaborate with big corporations.”

World ID Integration

Along with these well-known sites, World ID also allows users to validate their accounts and obtain a verified status, like a blue checkmark on Reddit, Discord, and Minecraft. Kim sees World ID as a login service that goes beyond social media and helps developers address important problems in Korea, such as ticket scalping.

Furthermore, as of writing, Worldcoin (WLD) is valued at about $2.94, up 7.28% in the previous 24 hours, according to CoinMarketCap data. Over the last seven days, this represents a bullish position that is up by 6.18%.

On the other hand, the World ID orb verification will be introduced in Ecuador, and activities in Kenya will be resumed, according to an earlier CNF report.
