General Updates

Neo Global Development Head of Ecosystem Growth John Wang joined a panel discussion at the WOW Summit World of Web3 conference in Hong Kong.

Neo co-hosted a meetup with Web3 Labs Club in Seoul, South Korea, alongside the eight projects in the Web 3.0 Global Acceleration Program. The meetup was part of the 5-day Seoul Acceleration Tour, aimed at equipping teams with the knowledge and skills necessary for success in the blockchain space.

Neo announced plans to make appearances at the Hong Kong Web3.0 Spring Summit and the Web3 Festival Hong Kong in April. The events will highlight the activity in the sector and underscore the region’s openness to adopting blockchain technology.

Quirky Soul College announced that the third and final mint wave of QSC character NFTs will begin on April 20. The final wave will be open for a limited time. Afterward, users will no longer be able to use GAS to purchase freshly created Character NFTs; they will have to buy them from secondary markets.

COZ co-founder Tyler Adams was featured in an in-depth interview on the TechFlow Substack for an article entitled Conversation with CEO of COZ: a philosophical perspective to the immortality of physical objects when bound with code on the blockchain. In the interview, Adams discussed his entrance into the Neo ecosystem, the longevity of blockchain networks offering product solutions, building non-fungible item technology, previous NFI activations, and more.

Flamingo shared statistics on the FLUND single-sided staking fund for Week 12 of 2024, noting a total value of approximately $12.5 million, total minting rewards of $5.9 million, and total trading fee rewards of $1.08 million.

Developer Updates

Neo SPCC launched the NeoFS Panel, a webpage that allows users to create storage containers to host files, documents, and other data on the decentralized file storage network.

NNT released Episode 60 of The Smart Economy Podcast featuring Andreas Brekken, the founder of SideShift, a non-custodial exchange dedicated to seamless onboarding and user privacy. Topics of discussion included the evolution of exchanges in the past 10 years, Brekken’s foray into crypto and building his first exchange, the rise of SideShift, the importance of user privacy and zero registration, building a blockchain company for bull and bear cycles, SideShift’s recent successes, and much more.

Several memecoins recently launched on the Neo blockchain and can be swapped on the Forthewin Network DeFi platform. The increased activity surrounding memecoins on Neo mirrors current trends on other networks like Solana, Ethereum, and other EVM L2s. As of March 2024, the four most popular new memecoins on Neo include Schrute Bucks (SCHRUTE), Frank Coin (FRANK), Ape Coin (APE), and The Hongfei (HD).

AxLabs lead engineer Michael Bucher will deliver a presentation at the upcoming Ethereum Zürich conference being held April 5 to 7, 2024. His presentation will be entitled Bridging EVM and non-EVM Assets: A Practical Approach. The talk will leverage the lessons learned from AxLabs’ contributions to the native bridge under development for Neo N3 and Neo X. Bucher intends to discuss the interoperability layer and why the team opted to build X as a sidechain, as opposed to a rollup, and how they settled on an Ordered Binary Hash Chain data structure due to its minimal complexity and cost-effectiveness.
