Coreum has launched the XRP Ledger (XRPL) bridge, allowing network participants to move XRP from XRPL to Coreum, the Cosmos ecosystem, and other supported EVM-compatible chains. Reza BASHASH, co-founder of Coreum and Sologenic, first brought attention to this functionality in a recent post on X. Bashash shared a snapshot of the XRP dashboard on Coreum Explorer, showing that there are now 1.2 XRP tokens on the Coreum network.

Recall that the team first launched a bridge between XRPL and the Coreum network in the fourth quarter of 2022. However, this bridge had limited capabilities and only allowed the transfer of Coreum tokens (COREUM) from the XRP Ledger to the Coreum blockchain. Last December, it was reported that network members had already connected more than 37 million COREUM using this bridge.

In December 2023, the Sologenic team, creators of Coreum, announced plans to expand the functionality of the bridge by integrating advanced interoperability features and enabling seamless transfer of multiple assets. Bob RAS, co-founder of Coreum said that the bridge will facilitate interaction with EVM-compatible networks, including Polkadot, Avalanche, Ethereum and BNB Smart Chain. This interoperability will be possible through the use of the Inter-Blockchain Communication (IBC) protocol.
