  • VeChain launched its sustainability drive last November, and in two months, 2,400 users logged in 450,000 actions that saved three million kilograms of carbon dioxide (CO2).
  • The drive also saved over nine million gallons of water, with CEO Sunny Lu recently marveling at how massive an impact small collective efforts can have on the larger goal of sustainability.

Sustainability has become ever so critical, requiring a collective effort to achieve. VeChain has showcased how impactful small collective actions can be towards achieving the major sustainability goal, with the network’s sustainability drive saving over three million kilograms of carbon dioxide in just two months.

Sustainability is the coexistence of humans and nature in a productive harmony, preserving the world for future generations. VeChain has been a leader in efforts to support sustainability, and in Turin, Italy, last year, during the Nitto ATP Finals tennis event, the network launched a sustainability campaign. The goal was to bring together individuals across the world and, through the X-to-Earn campaign, incentivize them to take more actions towards the shared goal.

As Crypto News Flash reported at the time, VeChain challenged users to log into the UN’s AWorld platform and record all their sustainability actions for a chance to win tickets to the next ATP Finals in Turin.

As CEO Sunny Lu recently revealed, this campaign has been a stellar success and has proven that blockchain is the best network for globally concerted efforts to save our planet.

VeChain’s Major Milestones in Sustainability Campaign

Lu was one of the presenters at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, an event that recorded over 100,00 attendees and over 2,700 exhibitors. In his presentation, Lu dived into the sustainability campaign, revealing key figures that prove it’s been a massive success.

He told the attendees:

In less than two months, there were 2,400 people participating and [they]logged about 450,000 actions, resulting in saving three million KGs of CO2, equal to more than a thousand long haul flights.

Hear @sunshinelu24 from #MWC2024: We've collectively saved 3 million KGs of CO2, the equivalent of avoiding a thousand long-haul flights! Plus, conserving 9 million gallons of water. 💦

The campaign also saved nine million gallons of water, equal to 14 Olympic-sized swimming pools.

From the result, you can see a small and fractional effort from everyone’s life is just so impressive.

VeChain’s campaign’s results were tabulated after two months, and the figures are higher at press time. As Lu summed it up, all that’s needed is a small effort on everyone’s part. The campaign had only registered 2,400 users after two months; however, VeChain boasts over 2.88 million known addresses at press time, and as such, the registered sustainability campaign users only equate to 0.085%. Once more VeChainThor users register and start playing their part in the X-to-Earn campaign, the impact will be massive.

Meanwhile, VET is trading at $0.491 at press time, dipping 4% in the past day. On the monthly timeframe, the token is up by 75% after a stellar rise in early February.
