The Zilliqa v9.3.0 upgrade is officially available on the mainnet. The announcement was made on the social media X account of Zilliqa. The upgrade brings several improvements that include EVM improvements, sharding changes, mining rewards, and general bug fixes. Additionally, version 9.3.0 improves network efficiency and reliability. The upgrade is an important step towards Zilliqa 2.0.
Active reward control is the most notable change that Zilliqa has brought to users, along with desharding. The community approved the improvements after voting on the Zilliqa governance platform. gZIL holders voted on the relevant proposals, and the majority chose the reward control and desharding features. Thanks to the reward control system, miners and ZIL holders will be protected from inflation fluctuations.
Shards will be removed from Zilliqa 2.0 for a short period. This will improve network efficiency until a new architecture is introduced. The new platform will reduce block time while increasing throughput and overall efficiency. In addition to these capabilities, the Zilliqa team has ensured that EVM compatibility is a constant focus. As a result, Zilliqa v9.3.0 now supports Type 1 and Type 2 EVM transactions.
