The wallet count of Shiba Inu (SHIB) has surpassed the population of Jacksonville, Nashville, and Providence, some of the most famous cities in the United States.
As per Etherscan data, the number of addresses containing Shiba Inu has hit 1,366,964 at the time of reporting, following a consistent daily growth.
This figure outstrips the population of 105 cities in the United States, specifically those ranked 39 and below in population. It includes Jacksonville, Nashville, Salt Lake City, Providence, Memphis, Richmond, and Louisville, per data from MacroTrends, updated for 2024.
Breakdown of Shiba Inu Wallets
Shiba Inu is one of the top 17 most valuable cryptocurrencies, with a market capitalization surpassing $5.6 billion, having garnered the attention of millions of global investors.
The 1,366,964 addresses housing Shiba Inu collectively possess an astonishing 999.98 trillion SHIB tokens. However, nearly half of this total comprises tokens already out of circulation, residing in a dead wallet.
In particular, the null Shiba Inu address holds over 410.29 trillion SHIB tokens, constituting 41% of the total holders’ chart.
Other accounts, such as wallets belonging to exchanges, prominent individuals, and smart contracts, make up the other half.
Centralized exchanges featuring among the top holders of Shiba Inu include wallets belonging to Binance, Robinhood, OKX, Coinspot, Kraken, Gate.io, and KuCoin.
It is essential to highlight that the 1,366,964 Shiba Inu addresses may not accurately reflect the count of unique individuals holding SHIB.
This discrepancy arises due to various factors, including individuals owning multiple addresses and a single address holding SHIB on behalf of multiple investors, especially in the context of centralized entities.
Nonetheless, comparing these numbers to the population of U.S. cities underscores the sheer scale of SHIB’s decentralized ownership.
Recently, The Crypto Basic also highlighted the top five Shiba Inu holders that control around 7% of SHIB’s total supply, other than exchanges or the famous dead wallet.
Number of Shiba Inu Addresses in Profit
Meanwhile, IntoTheBlock data discloses that 62% of the 1.366 million SHIB-holding wallets currently hold the asset at a loss. In contrast, only 22% are profitable.
Moreover, 15% of all addresses neither incur losses nor hold a profit. Additionally, IntoTheBlock’s data indicates that 76% of these wallets have been holding SHIB for over a year.
