OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, who gained great fame with ChatGPT and is considered to be one of the most influential names of the future, was fired from the company in a shocking decision.

The decision came after tweets from a Twitter account claiming to be Sam Altman's sister.

“Mr. Altman's departure follows a negotiated review process by the board of directors, which concluded that he has consistently been disingenuous in his communications with the board and impeded his ability to fulfill his responsibilities,” the company said in a blog post.

“The board no longer has confidence that Altman can continue to lead OpenAI.”

Following the news in the WorldCoin (WLD) cryptocurrency project, which is considered one of Sam Altman's personal projects, there was a sudden dump and the coin lost more than 7% in value. WLD was launched with great promises, but was deemed ethically questionable because it was distributed as a reward if people scanned their retinas.

However, it was also noteworthy that there was a sudden decline in the shares of Microsoft, which invested $50 billion in OpenAI, just before the news of the firing of the CEO and the US market closed.

Mira Murati, the company's chief technology officer, will serve as interim CEO, effective immediately. The company will begin its search for a permanent CEO in the coming days.
