The integration of XRP as a payment option is facilitated by Xsolla, a global video game startup that manages in-game payments for Roblox. BitPay will serve as the facilitating partner for smooth integration with cryptocurrency wallets.
Accessible across a variety of mainstream platforms—including Windows, macOS, Android, iOS, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4—Roblox boasts a daily active user base of 65.5 million. Notably, nearly 44% of these users are under 13.
Financially, the first quarter of 2023 saw Roblox users spending close to $773 million on in-game purchases, highlighting the platform’s lucrative nature.
Xsolla and BitPay
Launched in 2005, Xsolla is a global video game startup offering robust tools and services for the gaming sector. Since its inception, the company has created an avenue for game developers to market, launch, and monetize games across several platforms.
Xsolla aims to help its partners expand globally, increase revenue, and forge new alliances with leading gamers by addressing challenges in worldwide game distribution.
Meanwhile, the Xsolla and BitPay partnership dates back to 2014. At the time, Xsolla partnered with BitPay to process BTC payments for gamers worldwide.
They have remained partners ever since, with Xsolla continuing to accept various cryptocurrencies supported on BitPay. In September 2023, BitPay revealed that Xsolla would be one of the first merchants to accept PayPal USD (PYUSD) for online transactions, enabling users to buy products using the stablecoin.
