In the past week, Justin Sun, Tron CEO, had highlighted that a partnership with a major global brand was coming up. It is common for Sun to leave the community guessing at times in an attempt to push TRON price higher. Reports emerged that Tron was partnering with Samsung. After the official announcement, the price responded significantly while the community expanded simultaneously.
According to the CEO, the number of accounts generated on blockchain network Tron has now surpassed 4 million. Monitoring resource TRONSCAN announced in a tweet on November 4 that the Tron network’s total account tally surged to 4.015 million. This is the figure that Justin Sun subsequently broadcast.
These numbers do not explain whether all the accounts are active or some are dormant. And in the case of dormancy, they do not elaborate on whether that situation is temporary or likely permanent.
In the case of Bitcoin, many resources that measure the number of active users exist and they all report varying results. As of November 1, Blockchain published that there were at least 463,000 daily active Bitcoin addresses.
In Tron’s case, it is expected that the number of daily active users is smaller than the total created since the network’s inception. But, Tron has witnessed millions of Tethers swapped to its blockchain coming from Ethereum in recent weeks.
Samsung Price Surge
The CEO has invested significant effort in growing the profile of Tron and its native token, TRX. According to recent reports, these efforts directed unwanted attention to him in 2019 when he encountered a run-in with Chinese authorities.
But, progress is continuous with South Korean tech behemoth Samsung adding Tron support to its decentralized app store at the end of October. The Tron CEO had in the past highlighted the partnership describing it as a deal with a “$100 billion megacorporation.”
Currently, TRX is the eleventh-largest cryptocurrency by market cap. Reports revealed that the Samsung deal boosted TRX/USD by over 30%. Previous allegations had stated that Sun wanted to buy the Poloniex crypto exchange but he subsequently denied those allegations.
