The dev team that is busy working on the Telegram Open Network (TON) are now on the final stage of Pavel Durov’s project that is aimed to become one of the biggest and most usable blockchain networks globally.
Recently, the developers released a blockchain explorer on testnet and initiated the trials of the software that will help run TON’s nodes.
Telegram’s TON on testnet
The initial release was planned to happen on September 1. However, the team delayed it for unexplained reasons.
TON Labs CTO Goroshevsky commented that at present the TON testnet has 100 full nodes running. Apart from that, Telegram itself supports a small number of nodes.
He added that the team also released the source code for a full node. Through the node, one can access the TON testnet, make and verify data blocks. The Light client was launched a while ago, too.
Goroshevsky promised that on Monday Telegram would release a public beta-version of its developer tool.
TON to kick off by 31 Oct
The TON mainnet has to be launched not later than the last day of October as was promised to the community. Otherwise the funds raised through the ICO will be returned to the investors.
In March 2018, Telegram managed to raise an astounding $1.7 bln in a closed ICO.
TON will be based on the Proof-Of-Stake consensus protocol. The new network promises to be a multilayer one and apart from Masterchain it will support numerous shardchains and workchains.
Besides, as U.Today reported earlier, TON will be fully compatible with the Ethereum chain.
