Speed, Efficiency, Interoperability
So long, Beta! Cronos Chain is sporting an official v1.0 version number after the successful completion of the Galileo mainnet upgrade on Jan. 18.
The upgrade to Cronos v1.0 is intended to improve the network’s performance in terms of speed, efficiency, reliability, and interoperability.
“With the v1.0 version number, this release confirms that the Cronos blockchain network is well out of beta, having processed more than 65 M transactions for more than 1 M users without downtime,” Head of Cronos Chain and Cronos Labs Ken Timist said in a Medium post.
Highlighted improvements to the chain include:
- Mempool prioritization to scale transactions per second
- Optimized node storage: 30% less storage for full nodes
- Node performance improvements; ~50% reduction of node start-up time
- New Cosmos functionalities to enable greater EVM/Cosmos interoperability.

What Is Cronos:
Cronos is an Ethereum-compatible layer-1 blockchain network built on the Cosmos SDK technology. The network was designed to scale the decentralized finance (DeFi) sector and user base of the decentralized application (dApps) by enabling developers to instantly port dApps and assets from other layer-1 blockchain networks like Ethereum, Solana, BNB Chain, and Terra.
