75% of transactions on EOS dApps are made by bots, claims study

According to a new study, undertaken by ANChain.AI – a blockchain start-up -, approximately 75% of all EOS dApps transactions were made by bots…

The report lays out the extent at which bots are involved within the EOS ecosystem, with the blockchain firm alleging that bots contribute to 51% of the unique accounts and made 75% of transactions within EOS dApps, a daily volume equivalence of $6 million USD made entirely by bots.

Interestingly, Decrypt notes that these findings are even more worrisome as EOS suffers from a lack of users relaying stats from DappRadar that depicted just 5 dApps that had more than 1500 users in the last 24 hours.

The issue apparently lies within EOS dApp structure and the fact that none of the dApps within the ecosystem have any transaction fees, meaning the network is wider open for a good old fashioned spamming...

Why bots?

Bots are used throughout the industry for a variety of reasons, within dApps in particular, their usage ranges from boosting dApp rankings by inflating transactions, increasing the liquidity of dApp utility tokens, testing out winning gaming strategies, or even running quality control for dApp creators.

What do you think about this report? Are you surprised? Or is this simply due to the infancy of the industry? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
