Available information shows that Helium developers considered other blockchains such as Polkadot, Ethereum, Polygon, Avalanche and Algorand before settling on Solana. Two Algorand executives called on the Helium developers to reconsider their stance on Solana as the ALGO network offers a better option.

Algorand CTO John WOODS tweeted that the ALGO blockchain meets Helium's needs for a secure, reliable and scalable chain. This view is also shared by Algorand founder and CEO Silvio MICALI, who said that Algorand is ready to support Helium with a secure, scalable and truly decentralized blockchain. Borderless Capital wants developers to reconsider moving to Solana and the community to stop voting on migrating to Solana and consider proposals from other blockchain networks.

The Helium community has already begun voting on the HIP70 proposal. The HIP70 proposal proposes that the Helium network migrate Proof-of-Covere and data transfer accounting to dedicated Helium oracles and migrate Helium tokens and governance to the Solana blockchain. At the time of writing, more than 2500 votes have been submitted. 75% of these votes support the planned migration to Solana, the rest are against. The voting period is expected to last eight days.
