In an effort to boost its position as a payment-focused cryptocurrency in the United States, Dash has launched a retail savings app called DashDirect. The application will allow users to spend the open-source crypto at retail outlets and save up to 12% on their purchases.

Dash Rolls Out Retail Savings App in the US

In an official statement issued today, Dash revealed that its new app will facilitate retail spending of DASH tokens across thousands of chains and stores in the US.

DashDirect will be supported by 155,000 retail merchants and 125 online stores at the time of launch. Some of these outlets include Best Buy, DoorDash, CVS, The Home Depot, GameStop, Ulta, Chipotle, Subway, and American Eagle.

Explaining the benefits of the application, Marshall Greenwald, the founder of DashDirect and CEO of CrayPay, said that it allows, “anyone to spend Dash for everyday purchases as easily as using USD, but with the added protection of decentralized money and the added value of 5% average savings due to Dash’s efficient, low-cost transactions and DashDirect’s unique merchant network.”

Consumer Savings With DashDirect

Dash claims that its consumer-centric non-custodial app comes with an easy-to-navigate interface, which gives users full control of their portfolio and keeps a record of their transactions.

Additionally, DashDirect users can earn bigger discounts on their purchases with time and all payments made through it will be instant and free of charge. It will also have a tipping feature that can be used at any of the restaurants that support the DASH currency.

As part of its promotional strategy, Dash will give away $100 worth of app credits to the top 50 users on August 31.

Future Plans for International Expansion

With availability on both Android and iOS devices, Dash is targeting a broad user base in the US. But its ambitions go beyond the country and it plans to expand DashDirect to other regions where demand for the service is substantial. For this to work, Greenwald suggested that the network will have to include more merchants in a given country and integrate support for the local currency and languages.

The company has made steady progress towards broader adoption of its native token with work being done on several fronts. In January, it announced the release of its crypto payments wallet in the alpha phase, dubbed DashPay.  The service is scheduled for a public launch in late 2021.
