About Polygon (prev. MATIC)

POL (POL) is a next-generation governance token that has become the cornerstone of Polygon 2.0’s upgraded infrastructure. Introduced in 2023, it replaced MATIC as the primary asset used to secure multiple ZK-powered blockchains across the ecosystem. POL features a unique “hyperstaking” mechanism that allows validators to secure several chains simultaneously and earn rewards from multiple sources.
