Video game manufacturing giant Electronic Arts, which is the company behind popular titles such as Madden and FIFA, published a series of tweets trolling crypto Twitter.

EA Trolls Crypto Twitter

On Sept. 19, the official Twitter account for Electronic Arts published a tweet saying “Invest in Crypto.” which largely appeared out of nowhere. The tweet quickly caught the notice of crypto supporters and other Twitter users, gaining more than 21,000 likes and 7700 retweets. Many users argued in the comments that the account had likely been hacked and was using EA to promote cryptocurrency to its large following.

Instead, EA revealed in a subsequent tweet that it was a ploy to promote a new character for the game Apex Legends Season 3: Meltdown!. One of the characters in the new game will be named ‘Crypto.’
