Kraken introduces Apple Pay and Google Pay support to its mobile app

The Kraken cryptocurrency exchange has introduced support for Apple Pay and Google Pay to its mobile application. Mobile users who have Apple Pay or Google Pay set up will automatically be able to use them as payment options for buying cryptocurrency in the Kraken app.

The Apple Pay and Google Pay integrations improve the user experience when buying cryptocurrency, as it gives users smoother alternatives to funding crypto purchases through their mobile banking applications. Jonathon Miller, Kraken’s managing director for Australia, told CoinDesk:

“The integration of payment methods like Apple Pay and Google Pay is key to making our platform more accessible to everyone. This simplifies the purchasing process and brings the payment methods that people are used to using in their everyday life to the crypto experience.”

The new payment methods on the Kraken App comes with some limitations – the minimum purchase is $10, while the maximum purchase is capped at $7,500 over a 7-day period.

Besides adding the new payment options to its app, Kraken has recently also been active in other areas. About a week ago, Kraken listed DYDX, the governance token of the dYdX decentralized derivatives trading protocol.

The exchange is also making big moves related to Polkadot and Kusama, as it gives users the option to back projects competing for parachain slot auctions. Kraken has listed several parachain slot auction winners, such as Shiden, Moonriver and Karura.

Kraken is also a major player when it comes to ETH staking - according to data by Nansen, there’s more than 874,000 ETH ($2.54 billion) staked through the exchange. Kraken handled $1.76 billion worth of trades in the last 24 hours, with BTC/USD representing the biggest chunk of the volume ($250 million).
