Cardano founder Charles HOSKINSON predicts that Lace, a feature- packed light wallet created by Input Output, the core developers of the Cardano network, will be a “powerhouse” of the ecosystem in 2025. Hoskinson made the prediction on Tuesday, December 24, in response to the wallet’s claims that user migration from Nami to Lace is in “full swing ” and that more users are switching to the latter.
Nami is one of the most popular Cardano wallets, with over 200,000 users. Input Output acquired the wallet in 2023, launching an embedded mode that allows users to stick with the Nami UX they love while taking advantage of Lace’s features, including enhanced security, transaction merging, and easy access to governance. Hoskinson’s statements come as Lace proponents look to provide an easy-to-use, feature-rich portal to the Cardano network that will make the ecosystem more accessible to millions of users.
At the time of writing, the wallet is only available as a browser extension on popular options like Chrome and Brave, with a promised mobile app apparently still in development. Despite Lace’s promise, some community members remain concerned about Input Output’s growing dominance of the Cardano wallet ecosystem following the Nami acquisition. They believe it could create a monopoly that may not be in the best interests of end users.
