Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson delivered a bold statement at the Rare Evo 2024 conference, emphasizing the resilience and speed of the Cardano blockchain.

During his keynote, Hoskinson highlighted Cardano’s robust architecture, which has evolved over the past several years, arguing that the network has become too strong to falter. He likened Cardano’s strength to that of a near-indestructible armored vehicle.

Cardano Built Like a Tank

“Cardano doesn’t go down—it’s built like a tank, but it’s fast now, so it’s built like a Lambo tank,” Hoskinson declared.

The founder’s analogy of a “Lambo tank” captures Cardano’s dual focus on security and speed. Unlike many blockchains that sacrifice one for the other, Cardano has consistently worked on enhancing its capabilities without compromising its core principles.

Emphatically, Hoskinson’s statement underscores Cardano’s commitment to providing a secure, reliable, high-performance blockchain. Over the past seven years, Cardano has maintained a strong track record of stability and uptime, earning its reputation as one of the most robust networks in the industry.

Recognizing the need for speed and efficiency, Cardano has introduced several technical upgrades, such as the Plutus V3 smart contract platform and Hydra, a layer-2 scaling solution designed to increase transaction throughput.

These innovations aim to make Cardano not only one of the most secure blockchains but also one of the fastest.

A key highlight of Hoskinson’s speech was the demonstration of Hydra’s capabilities. The team showcased Hydra’s potential by running the classic game “Doom” on the network, achieving 35 frames per second, with every frame processed as a transaction.

This demonstration proved that Hydra could handle around a million transactions per second with 30,000 concurrent players, highlighting the massive scalability that Cardano is now capable of achieving.

Upcoming Events and Competitions

Furthermore, Hoskinson revealed that there will be a “Doom” deathmatch at the upcoming Cardano Summit in Dubai, where participants will compete for a $100,000 prize in USDM, Cardano’s stablecoin.

This event aims to showcase Hydra’s scalability and power, along with other concurrent scalability solutions like rollups and ZK folds, which are being explored through Plutus V3.

During the speech, Hoskinson also mentioned the successful development of Ouroboros, Cardano’s consensus algorithm, which has been refined to address the blockchain trilemma of security, scalability, and decentralization.
