  • The HBAR Foundation has announced a new partnership with the Nordic Blockchain Association to boost blockchain adoption in Denmark, Finland, Norway, Iceland and other Nordic nations.
  • The Foundation will share best practices, support positive legislation and offer its expertise in the development of blockchain infrastructure and ecosystems.

The HBAR Foundation, whose mandate is to foster the development of the Hedera blockchain ecosystem, has joined forces with the Nordic Blockchain Association (NBA) to promote the adoption of blockchain technology in Denmark, Iceland, Finland, Norway, and other Nordic nations.

The Foundation announced Monday that it had joined the NBA, which reflects its commitment “to support funding of blockchain use cases in the region, sharing best practices, and global vision.”

NBA is a non-profit organization building the largest professional Web3 network in Nordic countries. It unites founders, thought leaders, and policymakers through memberships, events, and regulatory work. NBA’s work with regulators has included education, advocacy, and collaboration with legislators to support legislative moves that set the stage for blockchain innovation. It boasts over 100 partners, 150 meetups, and four working groups.

HBAR Foundation joins existing partners, including Binance, Settlemint, Fireblocks, PwC, Ernst & Young, and Coinify.

“Together, we aim to advance the development of supportive legislation, infrastructure, and a vibrant ecosystem that empowers and harnesses the full potential of blockchain in the Nordics and global society at large,” the Foundation stated.

Despite being one of the most talent-rich regions, Nordic nations are often overlooked in the blockchain space. However, efforts such as those of the NBA are changing this. The Association is set to host the Nordic Blockchain Conference in Copenhagen starting tomorrow, June 19, with over 750 delegates expected to attend.

Kucoin’s Dorian Vincileoni, Gemini’s Caner Sevinc, Novo Nordisk’s Filippo Frangioni, and Boston Consulting Group’s Assia Gardiner will be among the speakers.

The HBAR Foundation commented:

And of all the Web3 hotspots around the world, the talent-rich Nordic region tends to fly under the radar, but we see this partnership as a foundational element to following through on our long-term vision by making inroads with the potential to lead and lend guidance on the broad development and deployment of Web3 in a talent-rich, crypto-forward region.

The partnership with the NBA is the latest in a long line for the Hedera ecosystem as it expands its reach and influence. Last month, it joined the Crypto Information Sharing and Analysis Center (ISAC) to enhance trust, drive adoption and advance security initiatives. Other members of ISAC include Coinbase, ConsenSys, Kraken, Fireblocks, and Circle.

Meanwhile, HBAR trades at $0.07504, shedding 8.5% for a $2.6 billion market cap in the past day, despite doubling its trading volume to $105 million. The token was caught up in a broader market red wave that saw the overall market cap dip 2.5% to $2.33 trillion, with Solana losing 5%, while Dogecoin, Shiba Inu, and ICP shed over 10%.
