Sun commented the appointment:

It is truly an honor to serve as the WTO ambassador for Grenada. I look forward to the opportunity to represent Grenada and work with WTO leadership to reinvigorate global trade in various ways, particularly the development of a robust digital economy internationally.

Appointment comes at uncertain times

Sun has been appointed WTO Ambassador at a time when the world continues to struggle with the Covid-19 pandemic. The WTO has predicted that the global trade decline will exceed the previous one, which came about in the wake of the 2008-09 global downturn. The pandemic is expected to drive merchandise trade down by at least 13% and up to 32%.

A breath of fresh air

Sun’s profound knowledge of the blockchain industry will be a breath of fresh air in the regional economy. Grenada is a key member of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), the CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME), and the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS). The pandemic-led travel industry shutdown hit Grenada and CARICOM the hardest.
