This pioneering initiative invites blockchain and distributed ledger technology (DLT) experts from both the public and private sectors, including IOTA Foundation, to collaborate on assessing and discussing projects involving blockchain technology. The primary objective of this task force is to compile a comprehensive report by January 2024, mapping these projects and conducting in-depth analyses of their technical foundations.
Driving European Innovation: The Task Force’s Core Mission with IOTA
The core mission of the Industrial Blockchain Task Force, in collaboration with IOTA Foundation, is to empower industrial decision-makers and drive innovation by evaluating efforts to build resilient industrial products and processes using a combination of blockchain and artificial intelligence (AI). This collaborative effort welcomes participants from various sectors, including energy, automotive, production, and circular economies, ensuring a diverse range of expertise.
Ricardo Simoes, Executive Director of INATBA, expressed enthusiasm about the task force’s launch and its potential impact on European tech infrastructure projects, highlighting the involvement of IOTA Foundation. He emphasized the importance of providing insights into the use of blockchain and AI for industrial consortiums and processes. Simoes believes that this initiative represents a significant leap forward in facilitating collaboration within the European Union and highlights the versatility of blockchain technology across various industries, with special attention to IOTA’s contributions.
Key Focus Areas and Deliverables with IOTA
The Industrial Blockchain Task Force’s key focus areas, including IOTA’s contributions, include:
- Evaluating existing use cases: The task force, in partnership with IOTA, will assess ongoing blockchain projects to identify successful models and potential areas for improvement.
- Promoting corporate and consortial collaboration: Collaboration among different entities, with IOTA’s involvement, will be encouraged to drive innovation and enhance the capabilities of blockchain technology.
- Advocating for standardization: The task force aims, with IOTA’s expertise, to establish industry standards for blockchain technology in major sectors, such as Energy, Automotive, Production, and Circular industries.
Task Force Participation and Impact with IOTA
Members of the task force, including IOTA Foundation, will actively participate in bi-weekly meetings, benefiting from a dynamic cross-industry environment. They will gain access to advanced blockchain capabilities and collaborate with experts from diverse fields. The task force, in partnership with IOTA, will play a crucial role in summarizing the capabilities of blockchain technology, especially in relation to EU policy goals and initiatives.
As utility tokens move towards regulatory compliance with MiCA in 2024, the Industrial Blockchain Task Force, with IOTA’s contributions, will contribute to discussions on innovation and technology integration for initiatives like Digital Product Passports, Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), and ESG reporting requirements.
