Brave Software Inc., Electric Coin Co. (ECC) and Filecoin Foundation announced the partnership on September 22. The Brave team, the Zcash developer group (ZEC) and the non-profit organization Filecoin (FIL) said that as part of their collaboration they intend to add new privacy features to Web3 through the Brave browser. Innovative privacy-focused features will also be available through the built-in Web3 Brave wallet.

Brave offers a privacy-focused browser where users can watch ads while maintaining privacy and earn BAT rewards for doing so. Through the partnership, privacy features will be extended to all transactions. ECC will work with Brave to integrate shielded transactions with the Brave browser's built-in crypto wallet. This will allow users to benefit from private transactions when storing, sending and receiving ZEC and other cryptocurrencies.

In addition to cryptocurrency transactions, Brave, ECC and the Filecoin Foundation are working on a decentralized messaging and media sharing feature. The new tool will leverage the privacy of the Zcash protocol and Filecoin's InterPlanetary File System (IPFS), the latter to securely store encrypted content.
