AMC CEO Adam Aron announced through Twitter that now you can pay using Dogecoin at theatres. While it isn't precisely the same as purchasing movie tickets with cryptocurrency, the final effect is the same.

AMC gift cards may be used to purchase movie tickets as well as online concessions. The business recently announced intentions to expand its crypto services to include Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, and Bitcoin Cash by the end of 2021.

At Your Next AMC Theatres Movie Night, Use Dogecoin to Pay

"Huge news Dogecoin lovers!" Aron writes in his tweet. As we prepare to enable online cryptocurrency payments, you may now purchase @AMCTheatres digital gift cards (up to $200 per day) with Dogecoin and other cryptocurrencies using a BitPay Wallet. Accepted on our website, app, and in theatres."

Aron and AMC have been talking a lot about cryptocurrency recently, particularly on Twitter. After an online survey, the decision to adopt DOGE was made in the first place via a tweet.

The decision was supported by approximately 70% of the more than 100,000 votes.

Retail Investors At AMC Are "Very Excited About Cryptocurrencies"

In other recent news, Aron stated on a conference call that spectators will be able to purchase tickets at AMC using Bitcoin and that the IT capabilities needed to execute the transactions are now in place.

During the same conference call, which was focused on Q2 results, Aron mentioned that Apple Pay and Google Pay will be accepted soon.

He went on to say that AMC's retail investors are "very enthused about cryptocurrencies."

AMC joins many other worldwide companies, like sandwich cafe Quiznos and convenience store Sheets, in accepting Bitcoin payments.

Dogecoin is now trading at $0.26, up around 30% from the previous week.
