Several important improvements to the Cardano ecosystem have been introduced by various developers working within it. Innovations concern both the blockchain itself and decentralized applications built on its basis. The first development can be considered the so-called CIP-1694, where the abbreviation stands for Cardano Improvement Proposal.
Co-developed with Charles HOSKINSON, the founder of Cardano, this innovation is a network governance engine that will be the precursor to Cardano's transition to the Voltaire phase. Voltaire itself, as explained by Hoskinson, is meant to be the last stage in the development of the Cardano network and set an example for the rest of the industry in how decentralized governance is implemented.
Another major recent innovation is the development of a price index for native Cardano tokens by the dcSpark team. The idea is that the index can be deployed locally and for free, without the need for an API or a third party. The number of native tokens on Cardano currently exceeds 7 million. The index is already supported by the three largest decentralized exchanges on Cardano by TVL: Minswap, WingRiders and SundaeSwap.
