Gal Vallerius to face years in prison for illegal substances crypto trading on Dark Web

17 June 2018 21:00, UTC

The French police has successfully identified a drug trader through the use of Dark Web open-source intelligence and stylometry, tech media outlets report. The weakest spot of the merchant was his own “tip jar” linked with Bitcoin addresses, while other users of the same platform of drug dealers used an anonymization mechanism provided by the founders.

Looks like Gal Vallerius (aka OxyMonster and VanDeevp) didn’t trust that mechanism which ultimately led to his apprehension in the United States. The final step of the French police was to confiscate his laptop which fully confirmed the validity of all the previous theories.

Notably, the analysis of the text style has been used, likely not without the custom programs independently made by the police. Similar tools used by crypto enthusiasts tell that Satoshi Nakamoto is Gavin Andresen.

Unlike money launderer Alexander Vinnik who denied all allegations for 10 months until May this year, Gal Vallerius has confirmed the truthfulness of the arguments of the prosecution only after 9 months in prison.

In his normal life, Gal Vallerius was fond of fashion - as the press tells, he was apprehended when travelling to the World Beard and Mustache Championships.
