Coincheck doesn’t operate with Dash, Monero, ZCash anymore
The digital currency exchange called Coincheck based in Japan is going to cease operations related to the following digital currencies: Dash (DASH), Monero (XMR), and ZCash (ZEC). The decision has been confirmed by large Japanese media websites citing uspecified sources.
The common feature Dash, Monero and ZCash share is increased privacy. Special tools make it harder to find who transferred money to whom, and this helps money launderers, Europol once noted.
While there is little reason to believe that this measure will be repeated by each and every digital currency exchange, the private nature of these three altcoins attracts hackers who jeopardize the coins’ reputation. State-imposed regulations regarding private altcoins are quite possible in the long term.
Coincheck lost over $500 of yen during the end of this January. According to the Japanese press, the corresponding investigation is still being conducted. The local law enforcers have already questioned a man who allegedly converted some stolen NEM funds into Litecoin using a Darknet website.
