AKON, a popular singer, composer, music producer, businessman and philanthropist from Senegal, stated that Senegal’s government had signed the final agreement to build the Smart City called Akon — the singer tweeted on Monday, January 13th.

The Smart City Akon will be located in the Senegalese village of Mbodien and will occupy 2,000 acres of land donated to him by Senegal President Macky SALL. The new city will be located only five minutes from the newly built international airport of the country, so its location is considered to be advantageous.

The construction of the city began in March 2019. It is planned to complete the construction within 10 years. According to the singer, the Smart City in Senegal will be self-sufficient and use its own cryptocurrency Akoin.

The Akoin cryptocurrency was created in 2018 and will be traded only in Akon City. In addition, the singer plans to create the Akoin fund and begin to develop partnerships with various enterprises.
