Rapper Raftaar becomes the first Indian artist to accept cryptocurrency instead of fiat currency as a performance fee. According to the rapper himself, he is a fan of blockchain technology, and the performance fee in crypto makes his dream come true. However, the rapper did not specify in which cryptocurrency he would be paid.

The Indian rapper noted:

“I’ve always wondered why artists and managers alike haven’t explored the potential of this disruptive medium. Nevertheless, I’ve finally taken the baby steps in this direction and all the credit goes to my manager, Ankit Khanna for making this dream a reality for me”.

The performance, for which Raftaar will receive a cryptocurrency payment, is a 60-minute virtual event for an audience of 100 people. The concert will take place in Ottawa in the second week of July.

Meanwhile, global artists such as Sia, Fall Out Boy, Mariah Carey, 50 Cent, G-Eazy, Backstreet Boys, and Lana Del Rey have also approved payments in cryptocurrency and blockchain technology.
