Coinbase to open new branch in Japan

04 June 2018 21:00, UTC

Coinbase wants to open up a new branch in Japan - this has attracted the attention of the biggest press outlets both in this country and America where the cryptocurrency exchange is located.

Ex-COO of Money Design and former banker at Morgan Stanley Japan, Nao Kitazawa will be responsible for attracting the client base in the region.

In its official announcement regarding the corporate expansion, Coinbase has noted that it intends to use its experience of engagement with regulators of the United States to communicate with the Financial Services Agency of Japan. This is the main governmental body the work of which includes the monitoring of cryptocurrency exchanges’ activity.

The move looks logical considering that Japan is one of the most liberal countries when it comes to digital currencies, although the skepticism has dramatically risen after the massive hack of Coincheck, presumably orchestrated by the North Korean leadership.

The development of Coinbase includes the active work on mobile applications, and this line of business may especially prove its usefulness on the Japanese market.
