Chess Federation Introduces Algorand Blockchain

The Algorand blockchain platform was chosen by the Chess Federation FIDE to record player ratings and titles. On Thursday, Algorand announced that it would register FIDE Online Arena World players' data and provide a transparent platform where participants can view information about the game, which is updated in real time.

World Chess CEO Ilya MERENZON, said:

«It’s exciting to continue bringing innovation to chess. The advent of digital games on the internet made chess more popular than before, and now we can’t wait to further explore blockchain innovation for digital chess».

According to Algorand COO, Sean FORD, the use of blockchain in chess brings the community one step closer to the mainstream adoption of technology.

The Algorand blockchain will be used to store game results, as well as to check player ratings, excluding the possibility of fraud or any manipulation. World Chess will also use the Algorand blockchain platform to develop rewards and incentives for the chess community through betting based on local currency and blockchain.

Previously, Bitnewstoday announced the use of blockchain in online chess gaming as part of World Chess competitions.
