Due to the coronavirus pandemic, most industries, including the education sector, are doing everything possible to prevent the further spread of the virus. The last institution to take action against the new virus is the Birmingham City University (BCU).

The UK-based higher education institution reports that the Business School arm is currently developing its digital certificate called the Coronavirus Clearance Certificate (CCC), the world's first COVID-19 blockchain-based digital safety certificate. The certificate is designed to protect suppliers and consumers from becoming infected with the virus.

According to the report, this initiative will be the first development created at the recently established CCIR-BCU 4IR Center. The center was created as a result of a partnership between the Birmingham City University BCU and the non-profit Center for Citizenship, Enterprise and Governance (CCEG). The CCC safety certificate will be issued by Transnational Transparent Procurement (TTP), a partner organization of CCEG. Its trial version will be first deployed in UK cities that have been hit hard by COVID-19.
