Provably fair technology is used primarily in the online gaming sector to protect customers from dubious casinos. It ensures transparency and customer protection by using mathematical proofs and cryptographic algorithms to guarantee fairness, especially in sweepstakes games. Since the players cannot view or inspect mechanics during gameplay, provably fair technology assures players of impartiality and douses some of the understandable skepticism gamblers may have. How Provably Fair Technology Works

Provably fair technology is common with crypto casinos. It has become necessary for many sites since there is no other way to prove that a casino is not trying to cheat players. The sites are becoming more popular because as the proliferation of iGaming platforms continues, customers should be assured that their preferred platform is as transparent as possible. Platforms that use provably fair technology maintain transparency by applying three main components to gameplay. They include:

The server seed is a randomly generated number supplied by the online platform. Before the gambler places a wager, the online casino uses Random Number Generator (RNG) technology to create the server seed. The platform then hashes the seed, converting the long number string into a short one.

The client seed is a number generated by the player’s browser that clients are sometimes advised to modify before sending. It is combined with the server seed to create a new and unique hash. The hash value is very specific to the data inputted in its creation, such that the slightest change to either a server or client seed will reflect in the hash value. This hash value determines the outcome of the game.

Finally, provably fair games use a cryptographic nonce, a simple variable that increases with every round. Players can use all three data to verify the bet and ensure there was no interference. Because the hash value is unique, verification would be impossible if the gaming platform tampers with any of the data.
