The first “smart” speaking label with the virtual assistant option has been patented and put into circulation by the winery Cantina Colli Murgia di Gravina, located in Bari, the region of Puglia. The company is focused on producing organic wine exclusively.

This is the first label that creates interactive communication between producer and consumer and is the first virtual assistant in the wine sector. It can be activated via a smartphone by reading the QR code from the label. In such a straightforward way, you can get information about the winery, its wines, and dishes that they mix well with, book places for tastings, and trace the history of wine and its production.

Saverio PEPE, director of the winery, explains:
“The idea is to restore trust between the producer and the consumer, largely lost by many wineries, as they delegated this area exclusively to distributors and sellers of their goods. Thanks to this innovation, we can track the consumers of our products, even in countries where we have never had sales. We get scanned images of our products, even from Chile and the Philippines.”
While the hallmark of this product is the label, which is artificial, since it was created with the use of artificial intelligence, the content of the bottle is a natural product. All wines of this enterprise are of organic origin and certified as “bio”.

This winery was the first in the Puglia region to produce exclusive wines of organic origin, without adding any chemicals and impurities, which, of course, increases the cost of production significantly.
