Vitalik Buterin: “I’ll just say it, Tron is a scam”

18 April 2018 21:00, UTC

The correspondent from Financial Times has met Vitalik Buterin in Canada where she had a long and interesting insight into what the founder of Ethereum thinks on both the past and the present of blockchain and cryptocurrency. In a notable occasion, when the topic of the dialogue between them was about overvalued blockchain projects, Buterin has expressed his absolute disrespect for those who simply chase the money and provided TRON as an example.

Another notable statement could be taken into consideration by those blockchain philosophers who necessarily think the government needs to be overthrown across the whole world. Buterin blames the popular culture, namely LOTR and Star Wars, for promoting the binary way of thinking. “Even if your goal is to overthrow parts of the establishment, you want to have and present an image of why this is driving human progress,” Buterin states, remembering about Ross Ulbricht, the Silk Road marketplace leader who can actually be called a crypto anarchist due to his illicit activities which eventually led him to prison.

While not actually enjoying the fame and some current market trends, Buterin is pleased to talk to the governments about promoting the use of cryptocurrency - including Vladimir Putin with whom he met in 2017. He has also acted as an adviser for one of the biggest country’s banks. However, the Ethereum creator is not sure if the Russian authorities value his position when taking actual legal decisions.
