Tether hacked, millions stolen

According to multiple respected websites focusing on cryptocurrency, blockchain and ICOs, Tether, a token-trading startup, was recently hacked. The media tells that hackers managed to steal $30 million. What does not improve Tether’s reputation here is that at first, they wrote the post regarding this matter with promises they are going to block these tokens and possibly recover it, and then they deleted it.

Previously, the users of Twitter found out that the company blacklisted the BTC address the money went to and started to speculate on the subject of money laundering. While the deleted statement at least clarifies what happened, the subsequent deletion does not clarify anything at all. Was it true or not? Soon the community and media will find out.

Tether claims its tokens are reasonably valuable due to every token being backed by fiat currencies: dollar, euro, and they also plan to add the Japanese yen to the list. As some observers noted, Bitcoin started to fall after the news surrounding the supposed hack, diving down $8000 we have recently witnessed. However, this might be a temporary drop.
