SEC has appointed a crypto overseer
The United States Securities and Exchange Commission sees a new high-ranking manager. Valerie Szczepanik is now the associate director of the Division of Corporation Finance in this financial organization which is overseeing ICOs and researching the issue the crypto assets classification as securities. Jay Clayton, head of the SEC, has welcomed the appointment in the statement published at the beginning of the week. The Corporation Finance Division itself is headed by Bill Hinman.
The previous job positions of Valerie Szczepanik (works in the SEC since 1997) include the workgroup related to blockchain technologies in 2013 and the unit responsible for the work of the SEC in the cyberspace.
Since the announcement, there has been no serious changes in the regulatory policy of the SEC or major cases opened. This may indicate that this person is now only adapting to the new position, and we will not see any significant statements from her until the next week.
The principles pursued by the United States Securities and Exchange Commission are strongly recommended for study to all entrepreneurs. As the case of BTCrush demonstrates, the Internet nature of ICOs may connect the business with the market of America without the founders even realizing it.
