The traditional paper medical records, many of them dating back in the USSR era, can be replaced by the new electronic system that will allow to “keep the personal medical data fully secure”, tells the Minister of Health of the Russian Federation Veronika Skvortsova, Russian media agencies report.

The requirement on this has been included in the federal healthcare development program. The innovation will depersonalize and decentralize the whole archaic system.

“The key [to this system] will be individual, a person will be able to determine with whom he will share his medical data, which medical organization and which doctor he is going to choose,” Skvortsova noted.

Unlike mining and cryptocurrency finances, the blockchain technology was warmly received by the Russian authorities. Officials understand the amount of bureaucracy in many spheres involving paperwork and one of the main blockchain useful features is the distributed ledger technology. This solution allows to prevent discrepancies and see the whole process of engagement between organizations, instantaneously verifying every next step with previous ones.
