Russian Mining Center attacked

04 October 2017 21:00, UTC

Armada Collective, the group of hackers, has attacked the website of the Russian Mining Center holding this Tuesday. It has recently attracted $43.2 million dollars in one of the first Russian ICOs ever. The email messages with the demand to pay 2 BTC in order to stop the attacks were disseminated to the staff’s accounts. As told on the official Facebook page of the enterprise:

“Today we received a blackmail with a threat, after than [sic] we were ddos atacked. We do not respect people who earn by cheating, and officially announce: there will be no negotiation!
Users, we're sorry for temporary inconvenience, working on it.”

Blockchain.info confirms that the company decided not to give anything to criminals – zero transactions to the account mentioned in the email messages. As members of the Partiya Rosta (the Growth Party, a political party in Russia consisting of entrepreneurs mostly loyal to the current government) note, the attack was too late – they’ve already finished the ICO and so, no big harm from the DDoS will be done.
