Russia’s Defense Ministry to use blockchain for data security

According to the Russian newspaper Izvestia, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation has already detected the usefulness of blockchain technologies and distributed ledger. One of the most notable features of such ledgers is the inability of malicious actors to delete the information, which is why it has attracted the military.

The antivirus software-developing Kaspersky Lab data security expert Alexei Malanov said that in this particular application, hackers would not be able to erase the login history which will efficiently help to find out about unauthorized access in time. DLT will be studied in Era - a new military research facility close to the southern Russian town of Anapa. Its model can be seen on a photograph above.

Unlike cryptocurrencies which are still being considered a ‘really difficult’ topic by the Russian authorities (recently they have postponed the corresponding legislature to autumn), blockchain was positively received by high-ranking bankers and professors. As it was previously reported in the Russian media, new officials will hear a set of lectures regarding blockchain and Smart Cities technologies.
